Water, power projects to be launched in Khuzestan during energy minister visit
TEHRAN – Several water supply and electricity infrastructure projects will be inaugurated or launched in Iran’s southwestern province of Khuzestan during a two-day visit by the energy minister, the Energy Ministry said.
According to the ministry’s news portal PAVEN, the projects cover drinking water supply, water resource management, transmission network expansion, facility optimization and reinforcement of the province’s power infrastructure.
Among the key plans is the start of operations for a water supply project to Ramhormoz county from the Jareh Dam, aimed at ensuring sustainable drinking water for the area.
Other water-sector projects include the inauguration of a drinking water reservoir and pumping station in Chamran, centralized opening of filtration projects in Bandar Imam Khomeini, and increased capacity at Marghzar water facilities, which officials said will improve water quality and supply stability.
In Shadegan, authorities will break the ground on the Khanafereh reservoir, inaugurate the Bouzi water reservoir and begin dredging irrigation canals, measures aimed at improving water management and environmental indicators.
The visit also include inauguration of the Bala Rud Dam and the upstream Bahmanshir Dam and navigation lock, as well as the initial launch of the “Shohada-ye Sevom Khordad” wastewater treatment plant in Khorramshahr.
Additional projects include expansion of the Amaldabs pumping station and a 23-km transmission line to the Dasht-e Azadegan treatment plant, and the start of drinking water pipeline projects in Alvan, Qaleh Loor and Dokouheh in Andimeshk county.
In the power sector, the minister will inaugurate the 132/33 kV Danial substation in Shush, launch distribution projects in Khuzestan province and Ahvaz, and begin construction of several solar power plants across the province.
The Energy Ministry said the visit is part of efforts to accelerate priority infrastructure projects, enhance the resilience of water and electricity networks and respond to public demands in the strategic province.
